This beaded heart is a great pattern to use in a necklace or key chain.
Supplies: 19 Round beads of one color, thin cording, and a jump ring. An embroidering needle could also be helpful. I used more oval than round beads and that affected the shape a little bit. Also, I used larger cording then needed so it would be visible in pictures.
The heart is made in three parts: the core and two sides.
The Core
The first step is to cut approximately 2 feet of cording.
Thread four of your beads onto the cording. Make sure the are roughly in the center of the cord.
Pull the left most bead away from the other three. Take the right end of the cord and thread it through the lone bead in the opposite direction than that of the left end of the cord (the ends of the cord should cross through the bead).
Then pull the cord tight.
Add one bead onto the left end of the cord and two beads on the right end of the cord.
Pull the right most bead away from the other one. Take the left end of the cord and thread it through the lone bead in the opposite direction than that of the right end of the cord (the ends of the cord should cross through the bead). Then pull the cord tight.
That’s the core of the heart done! You should have two circles of beads on top of each other
The Sides
Follow these instructions for one side of the heart and then repeat again on the other side.
Add four beads to the end of the string.
Thread the end of the string through the side bead of the top circle of the core.
Pull the cord tight. It will look a little funny at this point, but it will look good in the end.
Add two more beads to the end of the cord.
Thread the end of the cord through the last of the four beads added at the start of the side pattern (blue arrow points to). Use the red arrows in the image above as a guide for the cord.
Pull the cord tight.
Thread the end of the cord through the first of the four beads added at the start of the side pattern (blue arrow points to). Use the red arrows in the image above as a guide for the cord.
Pull the cord tight. And that is one side of the heart done!
Repeat the above steps on the other side of the heart with the other end of the cord.
Above is the heart with both sides added. Thread both ends of the cord through a jump ring. The jump ring can be used to attach the heart to a necklace or keychain.
To nicely finish the heart thread the ends through all the outer beads. For the right cord, start at the left top and go down that side and then up the right side, ending at the same bead you started at. Repeat this with the left cord, going down the right side and then back up the left.
To finish tie a knot with the two cords behind the jump ring. Use a dab of glue to secure the knot and trim the ends of the cord.
