Ginger Molasses Cookies

Eddie Mazarura No Comments

Late last year I made plans to do a holiday cookie series of postings.  But oh the challenges of owning a small business.  At the time, I went through some major employee issues with both my 2 new employees so much that I never got to finish highlighting my holiday cookies.  So since I have…

Floral Crown

Eddie Mazarura No Comments

Today is the first day of July. Happy July. I decided this morning that I would highlight a craft every Monday, Wednesday and Friday this month. To start off with I thought to showcase a finished product that says summer to me: Floral crowns. So I made floral crowns for the first time earlier this…

Sun Print Wall Hanging

Eddie Mazarura No Comments

I first came across sun prints, also known as cyanotype several years ago. I loved the idea at first sight. I have used it in a coupla my classes but since I don’t do as many design and craft classes as I used to, I have not done the activity in a while. As I…

Sugar Cookies

Eddie Mazarura No Comments

I would have to say sugar cookies are my favorite home made cookies. They are buttery and crispy, the way a cookie should be. I prefer them without icing although when we make them in class I do partake the ones with that extra bit of sweetness. So I have been using this recipe for…

Parabolic Curves

Eddie Mazarura No Comments

When I first learned about parabolic curves years ago, a question was asked of us: how can you draw a curved line using straight lines? I was in a classroom and will admit that none of us students figured it out. I was amazed by the answer. Basically, parabolic curves are curves that are created using…

Open Faced Cucumber Sandwich

Eddie Mazarura No Comments

I come from a culture where protein is revered. By that I mean growing up we literally had protein for every meal. So it wasn’t until I became an adult and moved to the US that I found my love for vegetarian fare. While I am not a vegetarian, I have continued to build my…

Japanese Milk Bread Rolls

Eddie Mazarura No Comments

Japanese milk rolls are my first attempt at making a bread product. My first attempt was a few weeks ago which was a failure cos I forgot to add the egg. This time however, I was obsessive about the ingredients and making sure I used them all. While I thought the recipe was fairly easy…

Risotto with Roasted Red Peppers

Eddie Mazarura No Comments

For most of my adult life, I have not eaten risotto because of my cheese issue (basically, I don’t eat cheese) and always understood risotto to be made with cheese. But a coupla years ago while looking for recipes to use in my Cooking Wars class, I came across a recipe that mentioned that I…

Pomme Roses

Eddie Mazarura No Comments

I first came across what I have come to call Pomme Roses, a coupla years ago. Pomme roses aka apple tartlets aka apple roses are these beautiful, flakey scrumptious desserts. These are apple slices wrapped in a puff pastry and rolled to look like roses then baked until the pastry is golden brown. I have…

Mother’s Day 2019: Gift and Activity

Eddie Mazarura No Comments

So for Mother’s Day 2019, I thought I would experiment with a craft I have always wanted to do but as of a few weeks ago, had never done: Mosaic. My initial thought was that it would be a relatively easy activity for 5 and 6 year olds. If I used a design template then…

About Me

Hi! I’m Eddie Mazarura, a lifelong maker and educator with more than 20 years of experience working with amazing kids in elementary and middle school, including brilliant neurodivergent students who have inspired me along the way. This blog is where I share hands-on tutorials that blend creativity with practicality, covering everything from paper crafts to fabric arts, from scrumptious bakes to crafty woodwork, and everything in between. My classroom and my craft table often overlap—many of the ideas you’ll find here also inspire the fun, engaging activities I bring into my creative classes with students. Let’s make something wonderful together!
