So the inspiration for this craft is from this site: Easy Peasy and Fun. When I first saw it, I knew that I wanted to make my own version of it. And with Valentines Day just around the corner, this is the perfect time to highlight this craft.

It is a very easy craft and you don’t need a lot of supplies. You should have most if not all of them on hand already.

So please check out the DIY below.

Supplies: greeting card, white cardstock 4.5″ x 5.5″, adhesive, thread or fishing line, 2.5″ paper punch, 2 2″ wide red cardstock hearts

Line the white cardstock inside the greeting card. I used painters tape to make sure the cardstock stayed in place while I punched out the hole.

Voila, the hole punched out. Set aside.

Cut out the thread or fishing line to the desired length.

For adhesive, I decided to use rubber cement. I find it is easier to use this than other types of adhesives. Even though it kinda looks wet above, it actually is not as wet as other types of liquid glue and will not curl or warp your paper or cardstock. Apply the adhesive to both heart pieces.

While the glue is still wet looking, center the thread or fishing wire on the heart as shown above.

Once the glue has set, attach the two heart pieces together. Again making sure the the thread or fishing line is centered on the heart. Set aside.

Tape the heart to the inside of the greeting card so that is is centered around the circle cutout.

Apply glue to the entire inside surface where the circle cutout is located.

Attach the white cardstock making sure that it aligns with all the edges and around the circle cutout.

All done.

And this is what it looks like from the right side out.

In order to make the heart spin, twist the heart as many times as you can. And then while holding the heart down, close the card and place it in an envelope. When the recipient receives the card, as soon as they open it, it will start spinning.
